So ... a little more about Valiant Thor ... his ship landed in Alexandria, VA in 1957. He was taken to meet both Eisenhower and Nixon. Dr Stranges said Thor actually lived in the Pentagon in special visitor quarters for about three years. It really is a fascinating story. My book was just recently returned, so am going to read it again!

I believe there were two operations. At the North Pole & South Pole. Byrd went to the North Pole first I believe. Admiral Byrd knew more than anyone about the Poles.
That is what I heard too. First the Arctic and then the Antarctic.
